Pleasanton is a city in Alameda county, and it is a suburb in the East Bay region of the Bay Area.

The city of Pleasanton is often ranked high on the list as one of America's 50 best cities to live. It is nestled in between freeways that access the night life in San Francisco, but has a small town feel with surrounding mountains, lakes and the Shadow Cliffs Regional Park, which permits swimming, fishing and boating. Pleasanton’s historic downtown area boasts many mid-19th century architectural styles that can be found within walking distance of each other.

There are numerous cultural events and festivals that are designed for the community. Farmer’s markets set up every Saturday morning. There are many community organized events for the local residents. The Alameda Fairgrounds facility is located in Pleasanton and holds the annual County Fair as well as numerous trade shows and other community events, which include, but not limited to the incredible Scottish Games which occur annually on Labor Day weekend.

Pleasanton hosts many internationally-known tech institutions. Pleasanton is also well known for its lively downtown which host fine-dining, casual and ethnic restaurants. specialty retailers and service businesses.

The city is served by two stations on the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) rail system. Many residents live in Pleasanton – outside of the City – and commute in for the workday.
